My new single Nothing Back is out now on Brainjack Music, and it is my fourth collaboration with my good friend Maui Sam!
This song came together quite fast. One day I was jamming on my Moog Sub 25 and I created this really fat sounding bass line and I put a little delay and reverb on it and it sounded amazing! It instantly turned into a full song. I sent it over to Sam and he polished it up and added a bunch of energy in the drums and filled out the drops.
This is one of those scenarios where the song was created because of the inspiring nature of an analog synthesizer. Do I have the ability to create similar sounds on my Macbook? Yes, but I wouldn’t have stumbled across that sound if it hadn’t been for the workflow of the Moog. It is so inspiring to play an instrument and get that immediate feedback with knob tweaks to get the sound just right. Do you need analog synths? Of course not. Can they elevate the sound of your music if used well? Absolutely!
